In Syracuse On December 30, u. s. was formed at the Notary Salvatore Maria Gervasi, The Association ONLUS - Saint Lucia Research Worldwide - Siracusa.
The foundation of this association is the result of experience gained after the major achievements with the conduct of the Historical Archives in April - Syracuse - research Saint Lucia in the World. My first big success it had with the public presentation of the 1 / edition of the exhibition of posters of the celebrations of Saint Lucia in Italy, it took place in the Convent of the Retreat in Syracuse. In this show I was joined by prof. Michele Romano, our eminent art critic, who worked mainly for writing the book. She saw the influx of visitors to a wide audience with various secular and religious cultures. For the occasion, was presented a book in the exciting setting of the tomb of Saint Lucia, the presence of the Archbishop of Siracusa Archbishop Giuseppe Costanzo. The book of the exhibition was donated free of charge, calling for a voluntary contribution to be used exclusively for blind children in Africa. Collection was the sum of €. 765.00, donated entirely to the MAC (Apostolic Movement for the Blind - Rome). Following this exhibition, with the help of Victor Anastasi, President of the World Syracuse, flew over the ocean and landed in Argentina. In Buenos Aires had success of visitors, in particular migrants, with their children and grandchildren and with a majority of Sicily and Syracuse.
's meeting with Syracuse was enormously exciting, it was Dec. 13, the feast of Saint Lucia, in their eyes you could read the nostalgia of the feast of Syracuse, they would all, without exception, to be that day in Syracuse. Talk to them of Saint Lucia of Syracuse and was remembered as the face and the existence of their mother in a distant land that perhaps many of them would not see her again. It made me shudder when an immigrant from Syracuse, Mr.. Eduardo Porelli, while pushing the cart with the statue of Saint Lucia cried sarausana je, and the others present said in coro, viva Santa Lucia, i miei occhi si fecero lucidi, non riuscì a trattenere una lacrima.
Con i tanti manifesti e relative immagini collected in Argentina, as well as other in Australia, from Nebraska (USA), Spain and Sweden, in addition to those of Italian parishes, the 2 / edition of the exhibition, which is under construction, will be referred to as the Celebrations of Saint Lucia in the World. In a short time we will present the program of the exhibition, the result of Syracuse and Argentina.
Searching on the celebrations of Saint Lucia in the world, discover their culture and their religious traditions, one can not remain indifferent in the view, at some poor countries the misery in which they live and in their anxiety to see the light of faith to shine our and their Saint Lucia.
