The reasons were political and economic order together.
The reason for the popular discontent was due to the fact that Sardinia had been involved in the war of revolutionary France against European states, and therefore against Piedmont. In 1793 a French fleet attempted to seize the island, landing at Carlisle and then insisting in Cagliari, Sardinia but were resisted by all means, in defense of their land and then ruled that the Piedmont Sardinia. The French resistance had inspired the souls, so it was expected to be recognized and rewarded by the government of Savoy for the loyalty to the crown. The Sardinians were demanding that they be given part of the civil and military positions and greater independence from the decisions of the local ruling class. The Piedmontese government flatly refused to accept any request, so the middle class with the help of the rest of the population triggered the insurrection known as "Vespers Sardinians.
The incident that sparked the dispute definitively in 1794 was the arrest ordered by the Viceroy of two leaders of the patriotic party, lawyers Cagliari: Vincent Cabras and Efisio Pintor. The people angry he decided to leave the city and all the Viceroy Balbiano Piedmont, which in May of that year were loaded with the force on ships and sent back to their region. Urged Cagliari by the events, the city of Alghero and Sassari did the same. The festival traces its entirety
all these facts with a great theatrical performance that is of great interest, as well as historic, even tourism. In Cagliari, the Bastion of Saint Remy, you can see the arrest of two lawyers as insurgents wearing costumes wigs and clothes from the late eighteenth century. During the day, stretching all the other events leading up to the expulsion of Savoy from the island.
"Sa Die" ends with the late night shows and folk music concert.
The early years took place only in Cagliari and the actors recited in the various streets along the route storico compiuto dai rivoltosi.
